Largest Free Literature Festival at Jaipur

26th January / India’s Republic Day –
It is an Annual celebration across India that celebrates the date when the longest constitution of the world came into effect. The constitution of India is the supreme law of India which comprises of 448 articles, 12 schedules and 94 amendments (as of now). 26th January 2016 falls on a Tuesday, so taking the Monday off, gives you four days of off! It is also a National Holiday / Office / Public Holiday in India.
14th February as St. Valentine’s Day –
Obviously there is no national holiday in India for same and a good celebration among couples involves exchanging greeting cards, chocolates and red roses. 8th March 2016 Maha Shivratri-
It is a Hindu festival during which Lord Shiva is revered and is the day when Lord Shiva married goddess Parvati. It is not an office holiday however people take part in service and fasting.
Holi 24th March 2016-
The playful festival of colors is widely celebrated across India in Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Indore and other states. The day before the colorful Holi is celebrated; the festival of Holi Dahan takes place that celebrates victory over evil. There is folklore attached to Holika Dahan / Holika Bonfire. Holi festival of India usually comes in March (Phalgun Purnima or Pooranmashi (Full Moon) and it is usually an office holiday. 25th August 2016 Krishna Janmashtami –
The day celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. If you are on a visit to the Indian Golden triangle then a visit to Jaipur’s revered Govind Dev ji temple is a must. This year Janmashtami falls on a Thursday.
5th September Ganesh Chaturthi 2016 –
The famous Ganesh temple at the Moti DoongriRd, Jaipur celebrates the birth of the Indian elephant god the Vighnaharta Vinayak Lord Ganesh (remover of all obstacles)‘s birth with full enthusiasm. There are various special events planned at the Moti Doongri temple of Jaipur during the Ganesh Chaturthi week. This year the festival falls on a Monday, so people travelling from Delhi, Gurgaon and other cities can easily have 3-4 days of excellent vacation.
12th September 2016 Eid ul-Adha –
This year the Eid ul-Adha falls on Monday.
